Protect the NWCU

The UK has one of the world's leading policing teams tackling wildlife crime; the National Wildlife Crime Unit (NWCU).

However, its funding is due to run out in March 2016.

When asked about this during Prime Minister’s Question Time, David Cameron replied that a decision was “still to be made about the future”.

It is vital that the Government continues to fund the Unit so it can maintain its battle against domestic wildlife crime and serious international organised crime.

The Unit helps police forces combat wildlife crimes like badger persecution, poaching and hare coursing, and also investigates illegal trade in live animals and animal products.

The NWCU is a small, low-cost yet highly effective weapon in the armoury against wildlife crime.
