Adult-only ball pit company, Prosecco & Balls, hit the headlines earlier this year by announcing a UK tour in the run-up to Christmas.

A Sheffield date was scheduled on March 17 to be held at Crystal Bar on Carver Street, with more than 200 people confirmed as going on Facebook and a further 3.5k interested.

However, none of the events had gone ahead as planned with every tour date date either being cancelled or postponed until the new year.

Yesterday, the company released an official statement on their Facebook page explaining that they would be cancelling all their upcoming events.

They explained that the company, Prime Live Group LTD, had come under 'extreme scrutiny' and had been targeted by a 'hate company of disgruntled customers' who labelled the events as a scam.

PLG said that, although the claims were completely false, many venues have pulled out of hosting their events.

A spokesperson said: "As a company Prime Live Group LTD have invested £10,000's into all our upcoming events and therefore we will be looking to recover this over time through the sale of all the companies assets.

"Unfortunately social media and the media can be an extremely harmful tool at times and it seems simple rumours and bullying tactics have forced us to cease trading as a company and seek advice from an insolvency agency.

"We are midst the legal process for this immediately and will look to refund everybody to the best of our abilities.

"It was never our intention to not run these events. We simply wanted to run some events packed with content and fun activities!"

The company said they could not apologise enough but stressed they had been recommended by police, insolvency agency, solicitors and staff to terminate the business.

Many Sheffield customers have already voiced their concern at PLG's statement and asked how they would be able to get their money back.

Amy Louise Walton commented: "I feel like we’ve been conned! There’s no reason for them not giving our money back! I’ll be so angry with them."

Lucy Cooper said: "Nooooo! Gutted this isn’t happening and two I don’t think we will get our money back."

PLG said any customer wanting to follow this up can contact them privately.
