Property forum calls for ambition
The call is one of a number of measures highlighted in a report by the Sheffield Property and Regeneration Committee, in response to Sheffield City Council’s development plan.
Members of SPARC, a Sheffield Chamber forum, prepared the report during consultation for ‘The Sheffield Plan: City-wide Options for Growth’, a guide setting out how and where development will take place up to 2034.

He said: “For Sheffield to achieve the best possible outcomes through the period of the emerging Local Plan, the growth targets set must be the most ambitious and aspirational.
“Not only are these levels of aspiration needed to maximise Sheffield’s ability to deliver the required growth, but they will help achieve multiple knock-on effects in terms of promoting and enhancing the existing strengths of the city.
“Emerging policy must attempt to take better advantage of these strengths such as our advanced manufacturing sector, plus the significant impact the universities have in terms of the volume of development and direct investment.

Hide Ad“There is also the considerable economic strength of the more affluent south west areas of the city - the link between the provision of homes in Sheffield’s more desirable areas and attracting business and investment must be acknowledged.”
