Procession to mark birthday of Muhammad

Sheffield’s Islamic community is preparing to mark the birthday of Muhammad with celebrations including a street procession.

Milad Un-Nabi, this Sunday, January 20, marks the birthday of the Prophet and in Sheffield, the Council of Mosques holds an annual celebration.

Madina Masjid, on Wolseley Road, are hosting the main event with prayers will be held in the mosque followed by an hour-long procession through the surrounding area from 1.30pm. The route includes Wolseley Road, Abbeydale Road, Chippinghouse Road, Crescent Road, Gifford Road and Empire Road.

On return to the mosque, there will be speeches in Urdu and English, Asian food served, and local residents are invited to join worshippers.
