A houseboat was destroyed in a fire on a Rotherham canal.

The blaze, off Main Street in Rotherham town centre, was discovered at 11.45pm last night.

A man and woman onboard at the time escaped unharmed.

Firefighters said the woman was taken to hospital as a precaution.

They said the houseboat was gutted.

An investigation is now underway.
