Prison threat for Sheffield pick assault attacker

JAIL could be looming for a Sheffield attacker who hurled a pick into the face of a man in the street.

Chesterfield Magistrates’ Court heard Alix Haddon struck outside the Blue Stoops pub in Dronfield at 10.30pm on May 6.

Jonathan Cattell, prosecuting, said: “Jake Dalby was on the receiving end of a slate axe which was thrown from a moving vehicle.”

Mr Cattell said Mr Dalby had a deep cut near his left eye which required stitches. He also suffered severe grazes and facial swelling following the fall.

Haddon, aged 24, of Abbey Lane, Woodseats, admitted a charge of assault causing actual bodily harm.

The bench committed him to be sentenced by at Derby Crown Court at a further hearing on August 31.

Probation service reports were ordered and Haddon was warned that custody was among the sentencing options for the judge.
