Preview: Newport Gwent Dragons v Doncaster Knights

The game, scheduled to be played at Bridge Field, will now be played on a 3G pitch at Ystrad Mynach following concerns over the state of the Bedwas pitch following recent spells of heavy rain.

Although the 21-16 scoreline in last Saturday’s clash at Castle Park flattered the Welsh side, forwards coach Glen Kenworthy admits the high-flying Championship side face a tough task in the return.

“They’ll be buoyed by how close they got and they’ll be up for it,” he said.

Knights, who are again likely to rest several regulars, took over top spot last weekend but the Welsh club would regain top spot if they were to avenge their Castle Park defeat.

“I would expect the result tomorrow to go a long way towards deciding who finishes top of the group,” said Kenworthy.

“We finished well up at Castle Park and could have nicked it at the end but that was mainly due to the fact that Doncaster didn’t make the best of their chances earlier in the game,” said Dragons’ boss James Chapron.

“I was disappointed to lose the game but Doncaster are performing really well this season and to go up there and come away with a losing point probably isn’t a bad result. Not many sides have done that this season.

“They are a tough side and probably what we expected. They are strong at set pieces and disciplined in what they do in the contact area.

“We’ve got to be aiming for more parity at the set-pieces.”
