Preserving past in city suburb

Have your say

STORIES of Broomhall through the decades are to be collected and preserved thanks to a grant of almost £95,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

The Broomhall Group of Groups and the Broomhall Centre have been awarded £94,700 to run the Our Broomhall project over two years.

Spokeswoman Sharon Gill said: “Broomhall is such a fascinating neighbourhood with diverse and vibrant communities and a full and exciting history.

“Residents felt that, with such a wealth of human experience and knowledge in the neighbourhood, these stories must not be lost.”

There will be opportunities for people to get involved in interviewing and recording, developing a website, archiving material and preparing for a book as well as sharing their stories and photos.
