Power cut hits 50 premises in Sheffield and Doncaster

The lights went out on about 30 homes in Hollow Meadows on the outskirts of Sheffield at 1pm this afternoon and it is expected to be off until about 5pm.

Another power outage affected 10 premises in Hillsborough, Sheffield, at 9am and workmen estimate it will be restored by 4pm.

The Northern Powergrid said it has switched off the power to about 10 properties in Barnburgh, near Doncaster, for "safety reasons while our engineers carry out emergency repairs."

The company added the power should be back on by 4pm.
