Pound Bakery has announced plans to reopen its Sheffield store later this week

A national bakery chain with a branch in Sheffield has announced plans to reopen all of its stores across the country later this week.

Pound Bakery, which has a branch in the city, will be reopening on Friday, June 5, and said precautions have been put in place to keep customers and staff safe.

The stores will be open from 9am to 3pm daily and will be serving the vast majority of the range it provided prior to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, a spokesman said.

“We are pleased to announce the opening of all our shops on Friday, June 5, and we are busy getting ready to reopen,” he added.

The chain also plans to serve its popular breakfasts all day for the first few days after the re-openings.

While the chain has been closed, each premises has been deep cleaned and the company has reviewed is sanitiation policy and introduced new measures to ensure safety.

Regular cleaning will take place throughout the day and hand sanitisation stations will be located at the entrance to each store, the spokesman said.

There are also clear floor signs and customers are directed to keep two metres apart. The company is also warning customers to stay away if they are showing any symptoms of the coronavirus.

The spokesman said that all staff members have been provided with all necessary PPE equipment and will be instructed to wash their hands regularly throughout the working day.
