A post office in a Derbyshire community is on the move to new premises where it will open as a new ‘local’ style branch with longer opening hours.

The new Calver branch will be at White’s Calver, Kingsgate, Calver, Hope Valley – 480 metres from the present post office at Main Street.

Post Office local is a new concept for delivering services and the new Calver office will have a serving point at the retail counter with Post Office products and services available during shop opening hours.

Opening hours are being extended to 105 hours a week with the new branch open 7am to 10pm daily.

The present Calver Post Office will close at 5.30pm on Tuesday, March 18, with the new office opening at 1pm on Wednesday, March 19.

Post Office Regional Network Manager for Central England Adrian Wales said: “We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in Calver and we are confident this new modern Post Office service will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.

“This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and marks a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.”
