She has been in the care of Arbourthorne-based animal charity Rain Rescue since May and has since been put on a strict diet in a bid to shift some of the excess weight.

Lauren Sanderson, deputy charity manager, said: “Each day we tell her that today might be her turn to go home but the truth is she has not had any interest at all, she has now been waiting quite some time.

“Monday is carrying some excess weight and does have hip dysplasia. She is looking for a home where she can have the free run of a secure garden and then the luxury of a nice comfy sofa for snoozing away the days on.

“She is a great girl, full of personality who does not deserve to be spending her days in a kennel.”

Anyone interested in re-homing Monday can contact Rain Rescue on 07725888207 or visit the website www.rainrescue.co.uk

The rescue was founded in 2002 and aims to help pets and their owners in times of severe crisis, such as dogs facing being put to sleep in local authority kennels, cats abandoned on the streets as well as helping owners with pets in times of hardship such as bereavement.
