"As such we have had to re-evaluate the business to ensure that we go in to the post coronavirus world with a stronger offering and that means that we have had to make the difficult decision to close some of our clubs with immediate effect.

“We cannot thank you enough for your loyalty and custom throughout the years and want to reassure you that your membership will still be valid at any of our Rileys clubs when we are back up and running.

“Thank you again - we will miss you.”

Rileys, which has been in existence in the UK since 1878, has had a troubled existence for the last few years, going into administration for the second time in two years in 2014 with the closure of a number of clubs across the country in a bid to survive.

As well as snooker and pool, the clubs also offer darts, table tennis as well as live sport on television.
