Poppy trail project hailed a success in Sheffield

A poppy trail project to remember those killed at war came to an end when the Bishop of Sheffield walked the route where 1,000 plaques were placed in memory of loved ones.

The trail formed part of a project which also saw Bradfield Church illuminated with floating poppies for a week - attracting huge crowds to the village.

Some of the money raised through the dedication poppy plaques will go to the Royal British Legion.

Rev Alan Isaacson, Rector of Bradfield, said: “These events have helped us to honour those who gave their lives for us; also to remember loved ones no longer with us and to support our armed services.”
