Poppy seller on the right track

Have your say

TRAIN passengers are getting the chance to buy poppies from the comfort of their seats today when a ticket seller takes to the railways with his collecting tin.

Ron Wiltshire, from Brightside, works in the ticket office at Sheffield Station and for the last five years has taken two weeks’ annual leave to collect for the poppy appeal on board East Midlands Trains services to London.

Last year he raised more than £11,400 – and this year hopes to hit a £15,000 target.

Ron was selling poppies on the 0727 and 0827 services from Sheffield to London and will also be jumping on board as many trains as possible to the capital and back throughout the rest of today.
