Poppy appeal volunteers plea

ROYAL British Legion organisers are seeking volunteers to help sell poppies in the Peak District for this year’s appeal.

A spokeswoman said: “With just over three months to the start of the 2012 Poppy Appeal, we are urgently looking for volunteer organisers in Hope and Edale.

“Derbyshire has a successful track record in raising record breaking amounts for the Poppy Appeal year on year with over £685,000 raised for the 2011 appeal.”

Volunteers are needed to get boxes of poppies out to businesses, schools and community venues, order wreaths for Remembrance Day services, collect tins back in at the end of the Remembrance period, count and bank donations.
