LAZY recyclers who leave bags of empties next to council bins rather than putting items into containers are being asked to clean up their act.
Bolsover Council is threatening to prosecute fly tippers who go one step further and dump everything from old microwave ovens, carpets, beds and dirty nappies at local authority recycling sites.
The council is appealing for local people to use the sites properly or face a fine or even jail.
Recycling points across South Yorkshire are also suffering from the same problem.
“People are taking the time and trouble to go to recycling sites only to dump their rubbish at the side of the containers,” said Bolsover cabinet member for the environment, Coun Dennis Kelly.
