The broad blue and white vertical stripes, which are recognised as the feature of a traditional Owls shirt, have been replaced by a predominantly blue jersey with pinstripe white lines.

Two other kits were also unveiled; an away shirt which is black with an orange collar and trim and a white third shirt with a light blue collar and trim.

In a poll opened on Friday on The Star online, we asked fans how they rated the new kits and the new home shirt appeared to get the thumbs down.

With 1395 votes taken, as of Sunday evening, 590 gave the jersey a positive rating, while 805 indicated that they didn't like it.

The other two kits did however go down well, with 936 to 325 in favour of a positive rating for the black away shirt and the third kit proved most popular with 1100 voting positively against 190 negative ratings.

However, despite all of that, howls of derision had apparently been replaced by the sound of the ringing of tills during Sheffield Wednesday's ever popular Owls in the Park festival on Sunday.

The club's megastore situated at the side of the ground had a queue right up the adjacent Penistone Road from before it opened at 11am and it remained that way for the majority of the day, with some fans on social media complaining about the length of time they were waiting to get in.

Those who managed to get there early paraded their shirt around Hillsborough Park were, once again, thousands of Owls fans gathered to meet their heroes and enjoy the food and entertainment on offer.
