Mr Blomfield resumes the role having previously “worked closely” with Starmer in his Shadow ministerial team since 2016. Sir Keir previously served as the Shadow Brexit Secretary.

Mr Blomfield said he was “delighted” to be appointed. The position will see him support the Shadow Secretary of State for International Trade, Emily Thornberry, as well as the Shadow Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, Rachel Reeves.
