Sheffield local elections LIVE: Labour loses control of council after defeat in eight seats including leader Bob Johnson
Welcome to The Star’s live blog of the local elections coverage.
More than 140 candidates are standing across 28 wards in the city.
Labour, Liberal Democrats, Green, Conservative, Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition, UK Independence (UKIP), Yorkshire, Social Democratic, Women’s Equality and Reform UK parties all have candidates in the running alongside independents.
Labour has lost control of the council after being defeated in eight seats.
This includes council leader Bob Johnson who lost his Hillsborough seat to the Green Party.
There is now no overall control of the authority.

Around 15,000 more voters applied for a postal vote in Sheffield this year ahead of the local elections.
