Sheffield Council in Twitter mixup over General Election date

Sheffield Council got their dates mixed up tonight after Tweeting about the General Election a day early.

A Tweet on the council's main Twitter account said voters only had three hours left to have their say, despite the polls not opening until tomorrow morning.

The Tweet has now been deleted but provoked numerous comments, all pointing out the mistake.

Council staff are believed to have scheduled the Tweet to be posted on the social networking site on the wrong date.

Polls in fact open tomorrow (Thursday, December 12) at 7am and close at 10pm in the evening.
