Sheffield Council looking for new director to raise city profile – for £88,000 a year

Sheffield Council is looking for a new director of culture to raise the profile of the city, on a salary of up to £88,000 a year.

The full-time role will be on a permanent basis and the successful applicant will act as the executive director for the place portfolio.

They are looking for a "credible senior leader" who is a "mover and shaker" and will bring "drive and energy" to make the city a "destination of choice".

Whoever gets the job will also be responsible for a budget of around £80 million.

In their job description, the council wrote: "We are developing our approach to ensure we can continue to offer the best services to our communities – which means encouraging innovation and creativity as we tackle the issues we face and grasp the opportunities ahead.

"The role requires a strategic thinker with the ability to develop effective internal relationships and external partnerships.

"Your role will be to galvanise colleagues, councillors, partners and our community in order to raise the bar of our cultural offering, and to prompt Sheffield as a destination of choice.
