Ms Champion’s closest competitor was the Conservative’s Gerri Hickton with 11,615; followed by 6,125 for the Brexit Party’s Paul Hague.

With a total number of 14,736 votes, Ms Champion has arguably only managed to keep her seat as a result of the Brexit Party splitting the vote.

The Liberal Democrats received 2,090 votes for candidate Adam Carter and 1,085 for the Dennis Bannan of the Yorkshire Party.
