According to plans for the brownfield site, off Doncaster Road, Stairfoot, the building will be turned into a drive-thru branch of Starbucks with a seperate building for Domino’s pizza.

The Starbucks will be only the second in Barnsley, following the store on the Dearne Valley Parkway, and the new store will create 45 jobs for the borough.

The restaurant, which used to house a Little Chef before Frankie and Benny’s, closed in July 2020

Planning documents state: “The new coffee shop with a drive thru facility will provide a local facility and serve passing trade on the A roads.

“The new pod is intended to serve as a dispatch point for customer’s telephone and internet orders.

“The proposed Starbucks is expected to be open from 5am to 10pm while the Dominos will be open from noon til midnight.”
