Plans revealed for 16m high 5G mast near dozens of homes

Plan have been submitted to Barnsley Council to erect a 16M high 5G mast on land in Dodworth.

If approved by the council’s planning board, the mast will be erected on land at the junction of Dodworth Green Road, Barnsley Road and High Street.

A planning statement from applicant CK Hutchison Networks (UK) states: “At present we are embarking upon a process to upgrade our existing streetworks monopole installations.

“These sites are predominantly located on Highways land close to populationdensities and have been sited with consideration of a sequential approach to site acquisition.

“With 5G the design of the installations has to change. We are now deploying 2G/3G/4G and the now the new 5G antennas in order to provide the best possible mobile experience for all our customers.”

A total of 27 neighbouring properties have been notified, and no appeals have been received to date.

The decision is being considered by Barnsley Council and the application is open for public comments until July 13.
