Reform UK councillor Nathaniel Menday, who was voted in to represent Woodhouse on Sheffield City Council, also posted online support for the Nazi party - including celebrations of dictators and Adolf Hitler himself - his social history media shows.

The Star was alerted to the social media posts and verified them independently using technology to uncover posts from the councillor’s now deleted X account (formerly Twitter), which show him displaying a swastika flag and sharing other far right iconography including the Sonnenrad, or ‘sun wheel’.

In one deleted post on X, which was recovered through the Wayback Machine, he writes: “Back in the youkay [UK] and it’s very depressing.

“Compared to many continental countries people here are fatter, uglier and poorly dressed.

“On top of this we have a disgusting, almost subhuman underclass of people bringing the place down.”

At other times he praises eugenics, and in one post says that ‘dictator shouldn’t be an ugly word’, adding: “A dictatorship with the right man in charge will always be a better way of governing than democracy.”

Many posts celebrate the Nazis, with him sharing an picture of Adolf Hitler’s book Mein Kampf, and one image with a box of Lynx Africa that appears to reveal a swastika flag and SS uniforms on display in a room.

In one post he describes himself as an ‘ethnonationalist’, a phrase which refers to the belief that nations should be divided by ethnicity.

On Friday, the Reform councillor won a seat in the city’s Woodhouse ward with more than 1,000 votes from his closest competitor in the Labour party - Danny Allsebrook.

Mr Menday had already been mired in controversy, after old social media posts where he described Nazi architects as ‘visionaries’ were uncovered.

Reform UK were sent screenshots of a number of these latest posts, and told The Star to refer back to comments Mr Menday made during his election campaign.

At the time, he apologised for bringing Reform ‘into disrepute’.

He said he enjoyed ‘risky humour and pushing boundaries’, but claimed: “I am not antisemitic nor do I have any Nazi sympathies.”

“I have flirted with what could reasonably be referred to as ‘far-right ideology’ but ultimately I have come to reject its core tenets,” he added.

“I am passionate about my country but I am and always have been motivated by love, not hate.”

Reform’s deputy leader, Richard Tice, said during the campaign that Mr Menday would be assessed if he is elected and ‘decisions will be made’.

He said: “We're all human. Many of these people are standing for the first time. They're passionate about trying to improve things.

“Have many people in their private lives occasionally sworn, thought something dark, said something dark? Yes, we're all human.”

In one of his now deleted posts, Mr Menday shared an Elon Musk post saying that Reform needed to change its leader as Nigel Farage ‘doesn’t have what it takes’.

In one post seen by The Star and shared with the Reform UK press team, Mr Menday responded to someone asking about the deportation of ‘Pakistani Muslims convicted of sexual abuse of young British girls’ by writing: “They should be executed, obviously.”

A Reform UK spokesperson told The Star: “He's advocating the death penalty explicitly for those convicted of sexual abuse of young British girls in response to a very specific post.

“According to YouGov last year, more Britons support reintroducing capital punishment (50 per cent) than oppose (45 per cent).”

Georgie Laming, director of campaigns at HOPE not hate, said: “Menday calls himself an ‘ethnonationalist’, a term promoted by notorious fascist influencer Steve Laws.

“Menday has made multiple antisemitic comments, including suggesting that ‘Jewish people in the West’ are responsible for the antisemitism they suffer as they ‘overwhelmingly favour open borders’.

“He also called Nazis ‘real visionaries’.

"It’s clear Menday is not suitable to hold elected office. Reform need to act and suspend him, and others with similarly repugnant views, immediately.

"Reform claim they have the best vetting in Britain.

“Farage now needs to explain how it keeps letting people like this through."
