The Art of Disruption, a 256-page volume described as a personal ‘manifesto for change’, was bought up by Bonnier Books UK earlier this year following a six-way auction for the rights.

A guide to ‘being courageous, doing better and disrupting age-old power structures in work, life and politics’, according to the synopsis, the book has been listed for publication on May 14, 2020.

As a Green Party councillor, he became the youngest Lord Mayor of Sheffield in 2018, attracting attention for his radical way of approaching the ceremonial role – he banned Donald Trump from the city, wore T-shirts with strident slogans, introduced creative performances at council meetings and put his name to a poster at the Tramlines festival that advised people to ‘do epic s**t’ and not to 'kiss a Tory'.

In May this year he became a Green Party MEP for Yorkshire and the Humber.

Magid has pitched his book as a manual for ‘when those in power don't listen, those above don't look down, those around you remain silent and those who want to can make a change’.

“This for the young, the old and everyone in between,” he said.

“This is The Art of Disruption and how we can all take back control and make a difference like our lives depend on it.”
