As voters trudge their way to exercise their democratic right across the city today, many have done so with their faithful hounds in tow, and social media has again been flooded with adorable photos accompanied by the #dogsatpollingstations hashtag.

Hide AdThe loveable pooches pictured outside polling stations have become a highlight of election day for many people, with the flurry of furry critters populating Facebook, Twitter and Instagram proving just what the doctor ordered after weeks of bitter political campaigning.
In Sheffield, Cilla the cockapoo was pictured at Stephen Hill Church in Crosspool, where her owner said she was ‘voting for free gravy bones and unlimited walkies’.
David Moore shared a photo of his dog Sandie waiting patiently while he voted in Sharrow, Helen Nichols posted a photo of her dog Poppy and Dave Higgens tweeted a snap of Dylan at what he said was the mutt’s first general election.
Politicians across the country also joined in the act, with Prime Minister Boris Johnson taking his pet Dilyn along as he cast his vote, and London mayor Sadiq Khan bringing his dog Luna.
