Developers plan to change a car park located next to a GP surgery in Sheffield into a dozen apartments.

If approved by Sheffield Council, they will build a three-storey block of 12 apartments with cycle parking on the plot next to Upperthorpe Medical Centre.

Ray Ricks consultancy, on behalf of the developers, said: “The development proposal represents a positive scheme of development and will provide for general enhancement of the street scene.

“It will introduce new residential development within a highly accessible location with direct access to local shopping and community facilities and public transport services.”

The application was only submitted to the council last week but one resident has already objected, saying: “Ridiculous idea! The area is already desperate for more car parking spaces, I believe the car park is currently used by staff and users of the nearby Zest Centre so this will have a knock on effect.”
