There were also 107 complaints in the "local authority establishment" category - this is where people contacted the council to report breaches of the general rules but did not name a specific venue or business.

Venues including a museum/art gallery, a brewery, a chemist and a fishing tackle shop all received one complaint.

From March 23 until July 3 - at the height of the nationwide lockdown - there were a total of 744 complaints made to Sheffield Council's trading standards department.

In addition, the council received three emails about people failing to comply with social distancing guidelines. The health protection team was contacted about allegations regarding lack of social distancing at a bar on Ecclesall Road.

The city centre management team were alerted that people were trying to sell things on Fargate to passers-by without wearing masks or socially distancing.

And a complaint was made to the highways department regarding a bar on Middlewood Road taking over the whole pavement with tables and chairs.

No fixed penalty notices were served for any complaint, although the council did have the power to hand out £60 fines.

Since March, teams from licensing, environmental health and city centre management have made over 1,500 visits to businesses.

The licensing team has sent 78 warning letters to businesses breaking the rules.

There have also been 36 joint inspections with the police and 123 inspections following specific complaints.

This resulted in two prohibition notices issued, two reviews of licensed premises, two license revocations, six action plans agreed and 11 voluntary closures of premises.
