Sheffield Council decided to postpone its annual meeting - where the mayor making ceremony and committee changeovers happen - until May 2021.

Coun Tony Downing, the current Lord Mayor, was due to step down this month, with Coun Gail Smith, deputy Lord Mayor, set to take on the role.

Coun Downing said: "Val and I are honoured to continue in our role as Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress for another year, a role we are thoroughly enjoying.

Coun Smith said: "Since I took office as deputy Lord Mayor, it has been a privilege to support the Lord and Lady Mayoress in their busy role.
