Sheffield restaurant gets permanent outdoor extension due to 'uncertainty' over coronavirus restrictions

A Sheffield business has been granted permission to have a permanent outdoor space for eating and drinking.

James Rodgers, owner of Lunar Coffee, at Globe Works, applied to permanently vary his licence to use external areas previously used for car parking.

In the application, he said it followed several successful trials of using the outdoor space and a permanent change was now necessary due to the ongoing uncertainty arising from Covid-19.

Sheffield Council’s licensing sub-committee granted the licence.

There were two objections raised by environmental protection and environmental health officers, who had concerns over staircase access to a toilet and noise and disturbance to nearby residents.

Conditions put on the licence to mitigate these issues are unconfirmed.
