Sheffield Hallam MP Olivia Blake is holding an open meeting with parents so they can come together to discuss their experiences of SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disability) provision in the city.

She will record recurring issues to raise with the council and other agencies. It is the first in a series of public meetings with constituents on issues that arise regularly from casework and monthly surgeries.

Ms Blake, who was elected to represent the Hallam constituency last December, said: “I’m committed to creating spaces to discuss overlooked issues with the people directly impacted by them.

“This meeting is the first of many, and I wanted to hold it about SEND as many constituents have written to me about provision.

Parents know well that children who receive SEN support are too often being let down by their schools, and I want to work with my constituents to both highlight the issues students are facing, and see how we can work together to change this.”

The meeting, which is open to all parents of SEND children not just those in Sheffield Hallam, is on Friday, March 13 from 12.30pm to 2pm at All Saints Hall, Ringinglow Road.
