An independent report into Hanover Tower in Exeter Drive, Broomhall has been delayed by more than two years.

It was launched after new fire safety tests, introduced in the wake of the Grenfell disaster, found the cladding failing.

"It was pushed back because there was a complaint, allegedly from Lovells who have delayed it because they installed the original cladding. They need to be called out on this. Why are people having to put up with another delay? And why is the council so risk adverse in publishing this report?"

Councillor Paul Wood, cabinet member for safety, said: "I picked this up in May and have been constantly trying to get it out into the public realm but had to take legal advice.

"When we put it back in December, it had to go to anyone who was named to give them a chance to respond, the people that have objected is Lovells. They need to come back to us to tell us why they were originally asked for the first week in January but said they need until the 31st to respond.

"That's why it’s become an issue because it needs to have legal clearance - the report doesn’t have legal clearance. I had a meeting with the city solicitor only yesterday and said if they are not back by the 31st we should issue this and not delay it a day longer."
