Plans were submitted to Sheffield Council for 218 on Wortley Road, High Green, to be knocked down and five new detached houses built in its place.

A statement on the plans, provided by Peter Dimberline Limited, said: "Due to the scale of the development, there will be some social consequences arising from it although it is anticipated these will not be of a negative nature and the re-development of this site with a modest number of 'family type dwellings' will contribute to the availability of local market housing.

"It is considered that the proposal is appropriate in terms of scale and proportion and is a positive use of this large garden. The site will still permit generous garden areas for the new family dwellings which will be in a sustainable location and of a type that will harmonise successfully with existing dwellings in the vicinity. The site is adjacent local transport services linking the site with both Barnsley and Sheffield."
