Plans revealed to turn former hairdressers into new wine bar on West Street in Sheffield

Revellers might soon have a new spot to socialise at in Sheffield city centre once Covid restrictions allow.

Plans to turn a vacant former hairdressers on West Street into a new wine bar were submitted to Sheffield Council.

In a statement with the plans, Haywood Design, on behalf of the applicant, said the ground floor will be the bar area with a disabled toilet, the first and second floors will be seating areas and the basement will be used for toilets.

They added: “The building, comprising four storey, is quite ornate with the Ashlar stone work and pilasters.

“According to the carving in the stonework it was built in 1914. The last A1 use, using all the floors other than the basement, was as a men’s salon.
