Proposals have been submitted to Sheffield Council, the local planning authority, seeking permission to demolish 218 Wortley Road, High Green, and build five detached houses on the site in its place.

Applicant Peter Dimberline Limited, of High Street, Dodworth, said: “Due to the scale of the development, there will be some social consequences arising from it, although it is anticipated these will not be of a negative nature and the re-development of this site with a modest number of ‘family-type dwellings’ will contribute to the availability of local market housing.

“It is considered that the proposal is appropriate in terms of scale and proportion and is a positive use of this large garden.

“The site will still permit generous garden areas for the new family dwellings which will be in a sustainable location and of a type that will harmonise successfully with existing dwellings in the vicinity.

“The site is adjacent local transport services linking the site with both Barnsley and Sheffield.”
