New steakhouse to open in Sheffield city centre after plans are approved

Restaurateurs have been given the green light to transform a former bank into a brand new steakhouse in Sheffield city centre.

Miller & Carter, who already run other restaurants across Sheffield including one on Ecclesall Road South and another at Valley Centertainment, are set to breathe new life to the old Halifax building on Surrey Street, near the Winter Gardens.

They plan to be open from 8am to 12.30am, seven days a week and serve alcohol until midnight with special late opening hours on New Year's Eve.

There was one representation made by the public, from someone who raised concerns about potential nuisance late at night but they did not attend the hearing when the decision was made.

Councillors came to a quick decision to grant the licence, following a meeting with managers.

Councillor Josie Paszek, chair of the licensing committee, said: "It was a very good presentation...so we will grant the licence with the conditions set out."
