White Rose Visas is hoping to move into the three-storey terraced house at 101 Wilkinson Street.

Hannah Clarke, of ID Planning, says in an application: “The offices would be occupied by White Rose Visas who employ a total of seven staff

“In economic terms, it would support the continued operation of an established local business, White Rose Visas, who as a small-scale business, require office accommodation in a sustainable and practical location and have identified this as an ideal location.

“A particular benefit is its proximity to The University of Sheffield, with student visa work and consultancy services to the university forming a key element in terms of client base.

“Their work also includes working visas or doctors and therefore proximity to the hospital would be a key benefit.

“It does not require any internal or external physical alterations and there would be no impact on the special character and significance of the Grade II listed building or the Hanover Conservation Area."

One local resident has welcomed the plans, saying: “The area bordering Sheffield University and the hospital has multiple examples of how change of use can help protect and add value to these lovely Georgian houses.

“Taking the houses out of the hands of private landlords that do not maintain high standards of repair and into a company that really cares is good for the area and is in keeping with the shift students are making to more modern accommodation.”
