“It’s a great achievement to be shortlisted. We’re putting a significant amount of investment into the redevelopment of our town centre and the benefits to the community are already clear to see, especially when you look at the impact assets like our fantastic market, Market Kitchen and Library @ the Lightbox have had.

“The drive behind The Glass Works is to create a town centre that fulfils the needs of our residents, businesses, town centre workers and visitors, and embeds a strong sense of community and culture.

“Being shortlisted for this award also recognises how Barnsley is leading the way in terms of rethinking its high street. We’ve looked at the importance of public engagement and refurbished our public realm to help create a family-friendly, bustling atmosphere.
