Dozen new family homes planned for former car sales site in Sheffield

Loroc Architects, on behalf of Erris Homes, recently put the new plans to Sheffield Council to transform Cloverleaf Cars, a used car sales centre which is relocating, with 13 new homes on land off Main Road, Wharncliffe Side.

If approved, each house will have a rear garden and will be a mix of three to four bedroom family homes with parking, a garage and two bathrooms.

The council refused previous plans by the applicant saying it was overdeveloped and therefore would “result in unacceptable living conditions for future occupiers” as a result of “overdominance, overshadowing and unsatisfactory outlook”.

To make these more suitable, the applicant has reduced the number of houses from 14 to 13 and created more space to deal with levels.

In a statement provided with the plans, Loroc Architects said: “The revised scheme has been developed in response to the recent planning refusal and comments made during this process.

“It is still considered that the proposals provide a high quality and attractive development and represent a significant opportunity to secure the positive development of this site, more than what the current outline consent offer in terms of the number and mix of units, which will, in our view, enhance this site and surrounding area as a whole.”
