Boris Johnson thanks Rother Valley residents for well wishes

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has thanked Rother Valley residents for their well wishes after he was struck down with coronavirus.

Alexander Stafford, Rother Valley MP, wrote to Mr Johnson after he was ‘inundated’ with get well soon messages from constituents.

Mr Johnson has now replied, thanking residents for their concerns.

He wrote: “Thank you so much for writing to me during my illness and for sending well wishes from the people of Rother Valley for my health and speedy recovery.

“I was overwhelmed and humbled by the good wishes I received.”

The Prime Minister was admitted to hospital on April 5 with "persistent symptoms" of coronavirus, and was moved to intensive care after his symptoms worsened, before recovering.

Mr Stafford said: “During Boris’s darkest hour he knew he could rely on the people of Rother Valley to stand shoulder to shoulder with him and all those that have sacrificed so much during this crisis.”
