A takeaway will be allowed to open for longer for 12 months, despite the concerns of neighbours.

Sheffield councillors this week granted permission for Mosborough Pizza and Kebab House to push its closing time back by half an hour each weekday, and a full hour on Fridays.

But the new opening hours for the takeaway in High Street will only apply for a year, in order to let council officers monitor their impact on neighbours.

A petition with 23 signatures from people against the proposals was submitted to the council.

But officers said: “Taking account of the site location on a busy highway with a number of late night uses, the additional opening hours proposed will not be detrimental to the amenities of local residents to an extent that the proposal should be resisted.”
