A resident living at Woodspring Court, in Grimesthorpe, said the area had become a dumping ground and the amount of rubbish littering the surrounding streets was embarrassing and attracting rats.

They did not want to be named and said the situation had worsened over the past six years.

“It has got to the point where it’s just become a dumping ground on the entrance to the court,” they said.

“About every couple of feet there is a can, a piece of rubbish, a takeaway thing and people are coming with trucks overnight and dumping rubbish.”

They contacted their local ward councillors numerous times but said they were either ignored or told the issue had been passed on, despite seeing no solution.

They said: “What are we paying for? Nobody listens to us in Woodspring Court.

“Nobody in the council seems to be bothered. Now, if it was in Sheffield city centre there would be a bloke going around cleaning it up every day.

“It’s got to the point where you can’t sell your house and move because it’s just so bad. Woodspring Court is fine once you come into the courtyard but once you go out onto the junction it’s just terrible. It’s embarrassing when you have visitors coming, you have to make excuses.”

They urged Sheffield Council to come and clear it up.

The council was contacted for comment.
