Plans have been lodged to covert a property in Mapplewell into a home for three looked-after children.

Applicants Ease Assist Ltd hope to use the four-bedroomed detached property on Hewer Way to house up to three looked-after children aged six to 16.

Ease Assist support looked after children and care leavers aged between 16 and 17 who are preparing to leave the care system and live independently.

If approved, the home will be staffed 24/7 by a qualified team, including a house parent who will oversee the daily care of the young people.

In their application, Ease Assist emphasizes that placements will prioritize children from Barnsley, in a bid to foster stability for young people in care.

Regular risk assessments will be conducted in collaboration with Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council to ensure a safe environment for the children, who, it is noted, do not have a criminal history and are simply in need of supportive care.

Ease Assist add that the care home will mirror a typical family dwelling, with comings and goings comparable, or less frequent, than those of a family of five.

The application also outlines strict guidelines for visitors, with overnight stays prohibited and late-night visits restricted, in a bid to maintain peace in the neighborhood.
