A PUBLIC meeting is being held tonight by campaign group Sheffield for Democracy to discuss the problem of lobby groups trying to ‘buy’ influence at Parliament.

The event is at 7pm at the Quaker Meeting House, St James Street, the city centre.

Speakers are to include Sheffield Central Labour MP Paul Blomfield, Coun Joe Otten, Lib Dem Sheffield Council member for Dore and Totley, and Tamasin Cave, of campaign group Spinwatch.

Vicky Seddon, of Sheffield for Democracy, said: “We want to give people in Sheffield a chance to be part of the debate and feed into the Government’s consultation on tightening the rules on lobbyists.”
