A pool car used by criminals in Sheffield has been seized by South Yorkshire Police.

Officers said they became suspicious about the vehicle when they spotted it on Bankwood Close, Gleadless Valley, last night.

When officers made their way towards the car two men inside ran off.

They believe it is a car not registered to any particular person and used by a number of criminals.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "On checking the vehicle items were found possibly for use in crime.

"The vehicle recovered on a non return basis.

"It is believed to be a pool car for local criminal activity.
