Detectives are appealing for witnesses to an incident on Sumner Road last night, Wednesday 9 May, which left a 36-year-old man with a stab wound to the neck.

It is believed the man was attacked in Sumner Road at around 7:40pm, before staggering to nearby Cranworth Road, from where he was taken to hospital by ambulance.

The 36-year-old currently remains in a serious but stable condition.

Anyone who saw the attack or can offer information is asked to call 101 and quote incident 943 of May 9.

A 44-year-old man from Rotherham has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with the incident and remains in police custody.
