Police seek thieves who raided delivery van at South Yorkshire petrol station

A delivery driver who caught thieves raiding his van grabbed hold of their car and was left hanging on as they sped away.

The incident was caught on CCTV cameras at the Jet petrol station in Park Road, Barnsley, and detectives want to trace those involved.

Cigarettes were stolen in the raid and when the deliver driver was left stranded in a side street away from the station after holding onto the getaway car until it stopped, the thieves returned to his van and took more loot.

Detectives issued an appeal for information on the BBC's Crimewatch programme earlier this week and said they received a number of phone calls afterwards.

No arrests have yet been made.

The raid took place at around 8.30am on Thursday, September 29.
