Officers used off-road bikes to patrol the area where the robbery occurred - in a field off Quarry Field Lane, Wickersley.

Others also walked around the Rotherham suburb trying to find out who was involved in the robbery, which happened on October 25.

Tuesday's three-hour operation involved 10 police officers.

The robbery victim, a 61-year-old man, was walking with his wife when they were approached by a group of off-road bikers and were asked to hand over their phones.

When the man refused he was punched and kicked before his phone was taken.

Detective Sergeant Richard Gladwin said: “We are undertaking all inquiries to identify the male responsible and would urge anyone who has information about this robbery, including those in the group, to come forward.”
